Viscosity Grade Bitumen 30

Understanding Viscosity Grade Bitumen 30

Bitumen 30 is a soft grade of blown bitumen characterized by a softening point of 30+5 and an approximate softening point of 70°C. It is commonly available in bags and drums, although caution is advised during summer months as there is a risk of leakage within containers when transported in bags.

The production process involves heating up bitumen 60 and subjecting it to a loss of 5% of its total weight. This process results in the creation of the first grade of oxidized bitumen, known as bitumen No.30. This particular grade of bitumen is valued for its softness and specific properties, making it suitable for various applications in the construction and manufacturing industries.

Applications:

The uses of bitumen 30 are diverse, catering to various applications in construction, engineering, and manufacturing. Here’s how it is commonly utilized:

  • Underground Moisture Waterproofing: Bitumen 30 is employed for underground moisture waterproofing works, providing a reliable barrier against water infiltration in underground structures and foundations.
  • Industrial Applications: It finds application in nuclear power engineering and pipeline engineering for bottom anti-corrosion purposes. Additionally, it is used in the production of asphalt for various industrial needs.
  • Production of Waterproofing Materials: Bitumen 30 is utilized in the manufacturing of waterproofing membranes, moisture-proof papers, and related products, ensuring effective protection against moisture ingress.
  • Anti-Corrosion Paint and Waterproof Production: Due to its specific properties, bitumen 30 is incorporated into anti-corrosion paints and waterproofing materials, enhancing durability and longevity in various structures.
  • Road and Bridge Caulking: It is used for road and bridge caulking, providing a durable sealant to fill gaps and joints, thereby improving the structural integrity and longevity of road and bridge surfaces.

These applications highlight the versatility and effectiveness of bitumen 30 across a range of construction, engineering, and manufacturing projects, making it a valuable material in various industries.
